I have lived in communities
where gun shots were an everyday
occurrence
and crime was something we assumed
would always be there. We
always
felt safer with a dog and a shotgun.
Though, I am a bit
wiser
than I once was.
The dog has long since died , but I continue to have the shotgun.
I went out the next morning and purchased a top of the line locking system.
We frequently think that the criminals are going to break down our door and rush into the house with guns-a-blazin’.
But that never happens

He’s going to look for an open window or one that’s easily jacked.
He’ll wait until the coast is clear and then he’ll move in.
