Dog Costumes For Halloween
Halloween’s coming by and as your Pet Dog is also a part of your family, why not dress him up too for this special occasion? However, many dogs are not comfortable with dog in clothes so it would be better to go for part costumes such as have him wear hats or bandannas. As most dogs are not too keen in wearing a complete costume, you can also go for making just the head piece or other part of the costume for your dog this Halloween. Given are some ideas on Halloween dog costumes that you can start preparing from today in order to make your dog look best for the upcoming event.
First of all is the Hot Dog costume. The very first of all dog clothes and costumes in our list is the ‘hot dog’ costume. Hot Dog costume is the first of all make it yourself dog costumes that we are going to talk about in this article. In order to prepare this Halloween costume for your pet, the following things will be needed- tan colored lightweight foam for the hot dog buns, glues, scissors, felts for adding on the ketchup and mustard and at last but not the least, a dog harness for helping your dog manage this costume. You will have to cut off the hot dog buns from the foam.
The hot dog bun should be cut according to the length of your pet’s shoulder and therefore it would be better to measure your dog first. After preparing the bun, round of the edges of the foam using a scissor and then carefully glue it to t he side of the harness. The dog harness is the essential part of this costume as it would help to keep the costume in place.
The next one is the bumble bee dog costume and for making it we will need, yellow dog t-shirt or yellow colored fabric, black and yellow felt, two Styrofoam balls or two pom poms, glue, scissors and two pipe cleaners. The first step in preparing this costume is cutting the yellow fabric according to your dog’s measurement in order to make a cape that can be tied to your dog’s neck. Other than that, you can use a yellow colored t-shirt for your dog.
For making the black bee stripes, cut out some black stripes from the felt and then glue it to the cape or the t-shirt. Create a cap for your dog by gluing the rest of the black felt according to the measurement of your canine friend’s head. Now, for making the antenna, use the Styrofoam balls or the pom poms and attach them to one end of the pipe cleaner and then attach the pipe cleaner to the felt hat.
Here’s another one of the special dog costumes for your canine friend, the ‘princess costume’. The one and only costume piece of this Halloween costume is the head piece. For making this costume, you will need a roll of construction paper, glue, silk or georgette fabric for making the train, elastic band and scissors.
The first step is to measure the size of your dog’s head and make a cone out of the construction paper according to that. If you are in short of fabric, you can keep the cone as it is or you can wrap the cone with the fabric of your choice Then cut and then glue the fabric to the cone so that it would flow like a train.
Now add the elastic band by either gluing or stapling it to the cone so that it can go under the chin of your dog and keep it snugly fit. Voila! The Halloween dog costume is ready.
Here are some ideas on easier Halloween dog costumes. Turn your pet into a cowboy by making him wear a comfy cowboy hat and by tying a colorful bandanna around his neck. The costume can be completed by using a toy gun holster to complement his cowboy image. If you do not have enough time or energy for making Halloween dog costumes then just buy a baby bonnet and a baby dress and dress your pet up as a baby.
